Sharp Starts 15-Year Limited Warranty for Residential Solar Power System Equipment

Sharp Corp., a major Japanese electronics manufacturer, started a "15-year limited warranty" for domestic residential solar power systems sold as complete units beginning on July 1, 2012.

With the warranty at the purchase stage, all parts of the equipment are guaranteed over 15 years; not only the module, but also peripheral equipment such as the power conditioner, power monitor, cables, mounting, power sensor, switch gear and string converter. In addition, Sharp bears all the costs for repairs and replacing parts during this period. Regardless of cost and frequency, solar experts from the company will resolve any situation regarded as subject for repair or replacement, even cases of less solar cell module output than the guaranteed figure.

The deposits are guaranteed for a full 15 years, which is a common period for the loan repayment for installation of residential solar power generation systems. Moreover, the company provides a "Web Monitoring Service" on its website for customers to observe their systems for free for 15 years.
