Natural Ventilation Style 'Projected Window' Launched

Shin Nikkei Co., a major manufacturer of building and housing materials, launched a new-style of projected window, dubbed "Yullard," on January 22, 2010. The window provides ventilation with natural wind, not using electric power, based on the idea of providing the building with the "breathing function" utilizing natural wind.

The vent window is opened or closed automatically under the weight of sash itself, allowing fresh air to enter while it keeps out unpleasant strong wind using its own force. It naturally ventilates in the spring and fall months. When using air conditioners, like in the summer, it can reduce the load for cooling using the 'night-purge' method, which discharges heat accumulated inside the building and in its frame during the daytime by letting in fresh air at night.

The company plans to sell this new product to commercial and public facilities as a vent window with low running costs.
