Keywords: Eco-business / Social Venture Government

The Study Group on Environmentally Friendly Products and Management Strategy released a report on efforts to promote future eco-products on August 15, 2005. This research was commissioned by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

The report was compiled from the results of seven hearings on marketing involving companies and consumer groups that started in the end January 2005. It points out that the promotion and wide adoption of eco-products encourage companies to increase market competitiveness, bringing energy savings to consumers as well as improved amenities and future security. According to the report, it is important for the whole society to contribute to reducing the environmental burden and establishing win-win relationships among companies, consumers and the environment.

It also emphasizes the effectiveness of decreasing the environmental burden through green-servicizing that sell the services of a product rather than the product itself, for example by sharing automobile or lighting functions, and the importance of supporting the development of related businesses.
