Looop Co., a Japanese developer, a construction and maintenance company specializing in solar power generation systems, has been selling a ground-based type solar power generation kit since December 2011 under the concept that "individuals can become owners of solar power generation facilities that can be built by oneself."

The kit consists of solar panels, a mount, a power conditioner, a solar distribution switchboard and electric parts, including cables. The mount can be divided into 3 kilowatt units, so as to fit the land shape. Owners are provided with services that compensate them for damage from natural disasters and consequential profit losses due to decreased sales of solar electricity.

Looop was established a month after the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011 and the company installed stand-alone solar power generation sets free of charge in Ishinomaki City and Kesennuma City, badly affected areas in Miyagi Prefecture. They began sales of the stand-alone solar power generation sets in September 2011.

In addition to the ground-based type kit, the company launched an aerial-based installation type kit in December 2012. This kit allows solar light to reach to the ground as solar panels are freely placed high above the ground, enabling owners to use the land for other purposes.
