Software Developer's 'Ultra Work' Trial Uses Cloud Network to Free Employees of Time and Place

Keywords: Non-manufacturing industry Well-Being

Cybozu Inc., a Japanese company that develops and sells software for the Internet and intranet, conducted a test of a new work style using a cloud network to help erase the constraints of time and place on people doing their jobs.

Cybozu, which ran the test for three weeks starting August 26, 2012, calls this work style "ultra work." Aiming to improve the productivity of teams and individuals, the company calls for changing the way people do their jobs by allowing them to flexibly weave their working hours around their lives at home. Examples of this are allowing people to work at home during the cool hours of the early morning, to work before or after a family's preschool events, and attending web meetings with overseas customers late at night from home.
