Fujitsu Laboratories Assesses Possible Reductions in CO2 Emissions in High-Tech R&D

Keywords: Climate Change University / Research institute

In April 2010, Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd., an affiliate company of the Fujitsu Group, began a quantitative assessment of the reduction potential for carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions of the technologies related to its products and services that are currently in the research and development (R&D) stage.

By applying the Environmental Benefit Assessment Tool to all of the advanced technologies, individual researchers will be able to evaluate each technology's environmental contribution, and the reduction potential for CO2 emissions when applying the technologies to products and services.

This approach clarifies focal points for the researchers from an environmental point of view. Thus, they can highlight an environmental issue that has been a performance checkpoint. The company is aiming to accelerate the R&D of advanced, environmentally friendly technologies.
