NTT Group, the largest telecommunications group in Japan, announced on September 26, 2008, that NTT Green Limited Liability Partnership ("NTT Green LLP") had begun full-scale operations . NTT Green LLP is an initiative to promote the Group's "Green NTT" strategy, which aims to promote the use of solar energy and other natural energy sources. NTT Group announced this plan in May, established the LLP in August, and registered the entity on September 8.

The planned amount of investment in NTT Green LLP is 3.09 billion yen (about U.S. $29 million) in total by nine Group companies. Through this partnership the Group aims to install five megawatts of clean power generation facilities by fiscal 2012.

From fiscal 2009 through fiscal 2012, the NTT Group plans to build and operate solar power systems, mainly on real estate owned by NTT East and NTT West. The Green Power Certification Council will issue Green Power Certificates based on the amount of power generated, and these certificates will be granted to companies that have invested in the partnership based on the ratio of their respective investment.

In the future, the NTT Group aims to promote further use of clean energy, expanding the program to include investments from local governments and other private sector companies, as well as by installing clean energy facilities on properties owned by local governments and companies in the private sector.
