Tokyo Hosts 2005 World Sustainable Building Conference

The Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport hosted the World Sustainable Building Conference in Tokyo (SB05Tokyo), which addressed the theme of curbing global warming, on September 27¡Ý29, 2005.

Under the slogan "Let's take action now toward a sustainable world," this international conference was held with the participation of researchers, businesspeople, company managers, government officials and students from all over the world, who exchanged information and experiences relating to sustainable buildings.

SB05Tokyo not only informed participants about the latest knowledge, on-site experiences and case studies; it also bridged the existing gaps in understanding and interest among the various stakeholders concerned with sustainable buildings, including clients/users, the construction community and planners. In this context, best business practices were also examined to help bridge the gap between high level corporate policy statements and project/investment practice.
