FY2004 Results of Model CO2 Emission Control Projects Disclosed

Keywords: Climate Change Government

The Japan Center for Climate Change Actions (JCCCA) compiled the results of CO2 reduction model projects jointly conducted with the Ministry of the Environment in fiscal 2004, and posted these results on the center's website in June 24, 2005.

The Japanese-language website introduces outlines of business reports on 17 selected and evaluated model projects designed to deal with global warming. Informative guidelines are also posted as a practical reference that the center hopes will be effectively utilized by other communities to help curb global warming.

The FY2004 model projects covered many commercial fields, including transportation measures, natural energy resources, energy saving and environmental education. Specific examples included a project by the Energy Saving Conference on Transport (Tokyo), where unused transportation capacity was utilized to reduce CO2 emissions; a project by the Hokkaido Green Fund, which sets up wind power stations with support from the citizens of Ishikari City, Hokkaido; a project by the Kiko Network (Kyoto), which promotes the use of energy-saving home appliances through labels that show energy efficiency levels; and a project by Friends of the Earth (FoE) Japan (Tokyo), which promoted energy saving in public schools by reimbursing them for reduced energy costs.
