On May 24, 2003, a solar power producers' network was established by representatives of cooperative power stations and individual owners of photovoltaic (PV) systems in Japan. About 1,500 people were the founding members.
Aiming to improve the PV generation environment for these power producers, the network provides a forum for communication among its members and for dialogue with national and local governments, power utilities, PV-related manufacturers, and installation companies. These activities will be conducted in Tokyo and its surrounding area for the time being.
The network will also collect data on PV power plants, monitor new developments, and publish the results through the Internet and other media. In addition, it plans to provide consultant training courses to help promote the installation of PV systems.
