Municipal Ward Promotes Tree Planting

Meguro Ward, one of the 23 wards comprising Metropolitan Tokyo, has decided to provide a subsidy to promote tree planting on rooftops and along residential houses and buildings. The ward plans to promote a "Wind Street" project linking green areas. By doing so, it hopes to ease the urban "heat island" effect and help prevent global warming.
