Keywords: Climate Change Environmental Technology Government Reduce / Reuse / Recycle

The Japanese Government's Global Warming Prevention Headquarters, with the prime minister as its head, decided to establish "a liaison committee to utilize Kyoto Mechanism". The liaison committee consists of section chiefs of related ministries and agencies, including the Cabinet Secretariat, the Ministry of the Environment, and the Ministry of the Economy, Trade and Industry and others. The task of this committee is apparently to organize domestic systems such as Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Joint Implementation (JI) for trading emissions quotas. The Ministry of the Environment and METI will manage Japan's national registry of total domestic greenhouse gas emissions jointly; the liaison committee will also receive these reports.
