Kanagawa Prefecture Starts Accepting Second Solar Bank System Installation Plans

Keywords: Local government Policy / Systems

Kanagawa Prefecture Government(KPG) announced on June 7, 2012, that it would restart accepting installation plans for the Kanagawa Solar Bank System that started in December 2011, after making revisions to the plan.

Taking the price decrease of solar panels into consideration, KPG will only accept installation plans that expect recovery of installation costs in 10 years. With the launch of the Feed-in Tariff in July 2012, it will start accepting plans for business models that will reduce the installation cost burden of prefectural citizens. Business models include those reaping a return on investment by selling all of the generated electricity, installing a photovoltaic facility with installation costs fully covered by businesses.

For industrial photovoltaic facilities, the Prefecture will start accepting new installation plans targeting factories, commercial, distribution, educational facilities and offices.

KPG selected a total of 65 installation plans for houses, housing complexes and industrial facilities in July, and from August, began accepting applications and quotation requests from citizens who hope to install photovoltaic equipment.
