Equipment Makers Boost Green Activities in Asia

Electric and telecommunication equipment manufactures are now strengthening their environmental activities in Asia.
Ricoh Company, Ltd., has achieved a goal of producing zero waste from the production of document copiers at a factory in China. The company's Taiwan factory will be the last among its 26 worldwide facilities to implement a 100 percent recycling policy.
Canon Inc. asks its 200 top suppliers of materials to investigate the chemicals contained in the materials used, and also calls for their environmentally friendly efforts.
Sony Corporation's manufacturing offices in China aim to set up management arrangements by March 2003 to closely monitor chemical release data.
