Panasonic Gains International Recognition for Climate Change Disclosure Strategy

Keywords: Climate Change Manufacturing industry Policy / Systems

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., known by its world-wide Panasonic brand, was selected for the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) for the first time on September 24, 2007. Matsushita was the only company selected for the Household Durables section of the CDLI in 2007.

The CDLI is an annual list of companies chosen for advanced information disclosure of climate change strategies. The list is managed by an independent non-profit organization, the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), and is based on the CDP's surveys of the climate change strategies of the world's major companies, including the "Financial Times Global 500 (FT500)" corporations, which are ranked in the order of their market capitalization. The CDP expects the list to help create a lasting relationship between investors and corporations through its assessment of the commercial risks and opportunities that climate change presents to these companies.

The CDP conducted its fifth survey in fiscal 2007, of approximately 2,400 companies worldwide. The newly-issued CDLI includes 68 companies belonging to the FT500.
