JFS "Sustainable Development Goals" (SDGs)

For many months, the international community discussed the global development agenda beyond 2015, while maintaining its efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by their target year of 2015. Their successor, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), were adopted as the 2030 Development Agenda at the UN General Assembly on September 25, 2015.

The SDGs are a set of 17 goals targeting issues such as poverty, hunger and food security, water and clean sanitation, quality education, gender equality, responsible production and consumption, climate change, and biodiversity.

This JFS webpage will introduce basic information on these 17 goals, the latest information on the targets in Japan including measures and responses by governments here, and related information sources in JFS articles.
