Yamagen Co. of Japan was originally a logging and timber company , but it now offers a line of furniture with a guarantee that it will be recycled. Named the "FReG Series," the furniture is available through Yamagen's online store. The company has come to be involved in a wide range of business activities; it trades logs and lumber, operates sawmills, manufactures and sells building materials and furniture, and processes industrial and domestic waste.

The FReG line includes desks, movable filing cabinets and storage boxes all made with particle board manufactured from wood waste. The company's aims are to recycle material from used products and also to be sensitive to health concerns, so it selects low-formalin materials for making the particle board, while each piece of furniture is numbered to guarantee recycling.

When the consumer no longer needs the product, the company confirms the recycling number and collects the item, charging shipping costs to the consumer. The furniture is chipped and recycled as particle board. This recycling system contributes to global warming prevention; for example, recycling a 14-kilogram cabinet can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 20.79 kilograms.

Emphasizing the advantages of saving resources as well as reducing waste and CO2 emissions, Yamagen has applied for a business-method patent for its furniture-recycling system.
