Japan's MOE Launches Web Portal to Share Environmental Changes Caused by 2011 Disaster

The Ministry of the Environment (MOE) of Japan announced on August 31, 2012, that it has launched a website for reporting the results of research and surveys on the natural environment and biodiversity in the Pacific coastal area of Tohoku, the region of Japan most devastated by the Great East Japan Earthquake and ensuing tsunami.

By sharing information with various entities, the MOE aims to support conservation and restoration efforts in the region. Information posted on the site so far includes the results and the progresses of surveys being conducted in the Pacific coastal area of Tohoku by the MOE, and other surveys conducted by organizations besides the MOE on animals and plants in the coastal area and its ecosystem.
