Keywords: Education Government

The Japanese Ministry of the Environment announced its completion of the 2005 Environmental White Paper for Children on November 17, 2005. This white paper, a summary of the 2005 Environmental White Paper for elementary and junior high school students, was distributed to schools around the country as a teaching material to raise students' environmental awareness.

The 2005 edition discusses current environmental issues and countermeasures, such as fighting global warming and building a recycling-based society. Its simple wording and illustrations make it easy even for elementary school students to understand these issues.

The white paper includes a questions and answer section and environmental quizzes, introduces familiar examples of environmental conservation efforts, and provides website addresses and contact information for further study of environmental problems. It aims to help students better understand environmental problems and inspire them to take concrete action.

The white paper is published only in Japanese, and past editions can be downloaded from the Ministry's website.
