Learning Journey in Tohoku
The Learning Journey in Tohoku, conducted from August 20 to 25 in 2012, was designed to invite 7 young people from around the world and 7 counterparts in Japan to visit the earthquake-affected Tohoku region. Journey participants met and interviewed people who survived the disaster, and people striving to restore and construct the community and its industry. The journey followed their experiences after March 11 and took a closer look at the reality of the situation.
The project aims to transform what Tohoku learned into a lesson for the world, thus contributing to restoring Tohoku and building a sustainable society, by promoting young people's sensitivity and capacity-building as well as transmitting their learning, growth and messages to the world.
The Learning Journey in Tohoku was conducted as part of the JFS "Learn to Create in Tohoku" Projects, supported by NIPPONKOA Insurance Company, Limited. These projects rely on the funds donated by the company according to customer use of an "Eco-Net Insurance Clause," a paperless system in which customers agree to read their policy conditions on the Internet when purchasing a policy.
