Fuji Keizai Co., a private Japanese research firm, released its report on the global warming prevention-related market on December 25, 2009. According to the report, markets in renewable energy and cogeneration system (CGS) facilities are expected to expand to 1.1167 trillion yen (about U.S.$12.5471 billion) in fiscal 2020, reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 93.89 million tons by applying the facilities and alternative fuels. The survey was conducted between July and October 2009, targeting energy-related companies.

CGS is one of the energy saving systems, in which exhaust heat from the generation of electricity from fuels is used efficiently to supply energy for air conditioning, water heating and steam. With government support, the markets in renewable energy and CGS facilities are expected to grow 5 times versus fiscal 2008 levels by fiscal 2020.

It is expected that use of CGS with fuel cells will grow in the household sector and adoption of photovoltaic generation systems by power utility companies will be expanded in the power generation sector. Also, the use of solar energy in the commercial and industrial sector will increase, and the installation area per year in fiscal 2020 will be 4.6 times the level in 2008.
