'The Children's Conference for the Environment' to be Held Along with COP10

The Children's Conference for the Environment, an international conference for children with a strong interest in environmental issues, will be held in October 2010 in Nagoya, Japan, in conjunction with the 10th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP10).

In order to address a wide range of issues related to biodiversity, it is essential to engage our children, who will be the leaders of the future, in thinking about environmental issues so that they can start to take actions. The purpose of the Children's Conference for the Environment is to develop environmental leaders for the next generation by providing an opportunity for children to interact with one another on this topic.

The outcome of the conference will be presented as a statement at COP10, which will be attended by many participants from national governments and the United Nations.
