JAL to Make First Asian Biofuel Demonstration Flight
For the demonstration flight, biofuel blended with jet fuel will be used in one of the four fuel tanks, and the other three tanks are to be filled with conventional jet fuel. As the blended biofuel would meet the quality standards for jet fuel, no renovation of the aircraft and engines is required for the flight.
The biofuel to be used for the demonstration flight will be selected from among second-generation biofuels, which are non-food derivatives and have high production efficiency. Through this demonstration flight, JAL aims to contribute to the development of biofuels and their expanded use in the aviation industry.
