Eco-Friendly Condo able to Cut CO2 by 30 percent Debuts in Kitakyushu
Nippon Steel City Produce, Inc., has completed an eco-friendly condominium called "Livio Higashida Ville Court I Residential District" in the Urban Residence Zone of the Yahata Higashida General Development, Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, on March 17, 2008. The condominium is the first subsidized project in Japan that the Ministry of the Environment selected as "The Community-Wide 20% CO2 Emissions Reduction Model" on November 9, 2006.

The project has the first bike/car sharing system in a housing complex in the Kyushu District, and the largest photovoltaic power generation among Japanese condos (approximately 170 kilowatts). Furthermore, the condominium uses the following equipment: natural gas-fired cogenerated electricity provided by the Yahata Higashida General Development Area; effective heat insulating glass to reduce air-conditioning loads; high-efficiency boilers; power distribution boards with peak cut functionality; and a hybrid outdoor lighting system that uses solar and wind power. These implementations are expected to reduce CO2 emissions by about 30 percent when compared with a typical condominium of the same size when coupled with next-generation energy-saving standards.
