JR Freight Improves Transportation Quality
Japan Freight Railway Co. (JR Freight), a member of the Japan Railway Group, announced an "action plan for transportation quality improvement by JR Freight" on July 12, 2007. As the expectations for rail transport have been growing, as it is associated with the least negative environmental impact of all transportation modes, the company has compiled measures for stable transport in the case of natural disaster, and to improve the system to respond to customers' needs.

Specifically, JR Freight will improve its transportation services by enhancing its customer service system to meet customers' needs, such as the expanded use of large-sized or temperature-controlled containers. As a system to ensure its transport quota, the company will implement plans reflecting all these needs by establishing flexible systems of transport and reservation. In addition, the company will prepare more prompt and accurate information systems for safer and more stable transport, as well as alternative transport systems in case of interrupted of train services.

The company expects to win the trust of customers and to deal with global environmental issues, such as energy conservation and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions reductions, and to increase logistic efficiency.
