Green Energy Purchasing Forum Launched in Japan
The Green Energy Purchasing (GEP) Forum was launched on June 5, 2007, to promote the purchase of renewable energy on a national scale in Japan. The forum consists of local governments, non-profit organizations and businesses across the country that agree on and share ideas relating to the purchasing of green (renewable or environmentally friendly) energy.

The forum includes the Green Energy Purchasing Promotion Council, which is led by the Institute for Sustainable Energy Policies, the Green Purchasing Network and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

With its inauguration, the forum plans to create a large movement promoting the purchase of green energy, starting first with local governments.
