Kokuyo S&T Launches Japan's First FSC-Certified Notebook
Kokuyo S&T Co., a group company of Kokuyo Co., a leading Japanese manufacturer and marketer of office equipment and stationery, began selling Japan's first notebook labeled with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) logo in November 2004. The Campus Notebook line uses FSC-certified pulp for at least 30 percent of its contents, excluding the cover.

The FSC certification system was established to prevent the loss and deterioration of global forests. Based on its own criteria, the FSC judges whether or not parties applying for certification are pursuing environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically sustainable forest management.

Selling a paper product with the FSC logo requires not only that the product use woodchips coming from FSC certified forests but also that each entity involved in the product's manufacturing, processing and distribution processes has obtained the certification.

By purchasing and using FSC certified products, consumers can indirectly help support proper forest management.
