Matsushita Ecology Systems to Market Wind and Solar-Powered Streetlights
Matsushita Ecology Systems Co. introduced three models of streetlights named "Kaze Kamome," or Wind Seagull, to the market on December 16, 2003. The products are each equipped with a wind and solar power generator.

The products not only provide lighting, but can also accommodate devices such as a surveillance camera and communications equipment, because power can also be drawn from an external power source via a storage battery.

Illumination intensity with an 18-watt fluorescent light is seven lux at the ground level, three meters from the light. Brightness can also be selected according to lighting needs. In addition, it is possible to control on/off and lighting levels by light sensor and a timer.

The products use a combined system of single crystal silicon high-efficiency cells and light-transmitting modules for the solar generator, and a low-noise Savonius windmill for the wind power generator.
