Eco Delivery Label to Promote "Green Delivery" Service
The New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) has created the "CEV Eco Delivery Label," which is to be affixed to goods and packages delivered in Japan, to encourage the use of clean energy vehicles (CEV).

The label can be put on goods delivered, for example, when shippers or delivery companies deliver to local government offices or companies using trucks fueled by compressed natural gas (CNG).

Those who want to use the label can use it for free but must first apply to NEDO. If necessary, NEDO can require users to report how the labels are being used.

Currently, the Tokyo metropolitan government and six prefectures and cities, including Kyoto and Osaka prefectures and Kobe City, are requesting "green delivery"--the use of eco-friendly vehicles--for goods that they purchase. NEDO is hoping that the new label will raise citizen awareness about low-emission vehicles.
