ANNOUNCEMENT
- JFS's Website Receives Grand Prize in the NGO-NPO category of the
"Environmental goo Grand Prize" (2003/12/19)
"Environmental goo Grand Prize" is an award hosted by NTT-X, which operates
Japan's largest environmental information portal "Environmental goo," with
an aim of promoting people's environmentally sound lifestyles and the
environmental conservation initiatives of corporations and local
governments, as well as supporting information dissemination efforts of
NGOs. This is the fourth year of this award.
To receive this award, our website had to pass three selection phases.
Voting by about 80,000 environmental goo members is also an element of the
selection process. We would like to thank those who voted for us.
And we dedicate this award to all of you who support us. Thank you!
- JFS Uses Green Power for Its Energy Requirements (2003/12/05)
The Green Power Certification System is a scheme in Japan that offers a
new way for companies and organizations to voluntarily engage in energy
conservation and environmental protection. Participants earmark their
electricity consumption to be supplied from power produced from renewable
energy, and do not have to invest directly in equipment and facilities.
In return, they receive a Certificate of Green Power that certifies them
for embracing the benefits of renewable energy, namely, energy
conservation and the reduction of CO2 emissions.
Although the size of our operations is small, Japan for Sustainability
strives to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Thus, we decided to
apply for this certificate and to use green power for all energy
requirements of our office.
