A movement to involve all parties in the entire supply chain, including clients, in an effort to create a sustainable society together is growing in Japan. Organizations such as Sumitomo Corporation Group, known for an integrated trading company group engaged in a wide range of business activities on a global basis, and Fujifilm Corp. began the practice, and Fujifilm's parent company (Fujifilm Holdings Corp.), which uses proprietary technologies to provide solutions in areas like imaging, life science systems and document, established some action guidelines with the aim of creating a new set of values for fulfilling corporate social responsibility and realizing a better, sustainable society. The guidelines were introduced in November 2009.

Sumitomo Corporation Group troduced the "Supply Chain CSR Action Guidelines," but also started asking its suppliers and business partners to follow the guidelines in order to work towards the realization of a better, sustainable society and to fulfill corporate social responsibility (CSR) together.

Meanwhile, Fujifilm has been practicing the "Fujifilm Group Procurement Policy" since 2000. Furthermore, the company stepped up in 2006 to incorporate CSR considerations into its procurement process. Going forward, Fujifilm plans to continue promoting its CSR policies in order to realize a sustainable society by enhancing cooperative relationships with clients and improving the quality of its entire supply chain.
