Car Sharing Starts on Campus

Keywords: Local government NGO / Citizen Policy / Systems Transportation / Mobility University / Research institute

A group of students at Kyushu University has joined a car sharing project that uses environmentally friendly electric vehicles. The project is operated by "Car Sharing Network," a non-profit organization in Fukuoka City operated jointly with the Fukuoka city government and Kyushu Electric Power Co. in southern Japan (Kyushu Island).

On August 19, the student group started on-campus car sharing on a test basis, also inviting the participation of the faculty. As the popularity of car sharing is growing in Europe and North America, the outcome of the students' efforts is drawing much attention in Japan.
