Oki Reduces Its Distribution CO2 Emissions

Keywords: Climate Change Manufacturing industry Policy / Systems Transportation / Mobility

By rerouting its air transport routes for semiconductor chips from August 2002, Oki Electric Industry Co. will cut back its annual carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 440 tonnes compared to the previous fiscal year.

Until now, the company has sent all the chips produced in its manufacturing plants, including overseas production sites, to its semiconductor distribution center in Hachioji, Tokyo and then shipped them to sales subsidiaries at home and abroad.

Oki has established a new logistics center at its plant in Thailand, which is one of Oki's major overseas semiconductor plants, to ship chips directly to overseas sales subsidiaries.
