 A Unique, Innovative NGO for the 21st Century

Japan for Sustainability is a membership-based non-profit organization with two chief executives, Ms. Junko Edahiro, environmental journalist, and Mr. Hiroyuki Tada, businessperson specialized in environmental communication. Prof. Ryouichi Yamamoto, University of Tokyo, Prof. Tadahiro Mitsuhashi, Chiba University of Commerce and Mr. Lester R. Brown, President of Earth Policy Institute in Washington DC, serve as the directors for the organization.

Japan for Sustainability (JFS) strives to be as environmentally friendly as possible. JFS has acquired the Green Power Certification in December 2003, and JFS's activities are powered by wind energy.

Junko Edahiro

Junko Edahiro received a Master's in Educational Psychology from Tokyo University. She began studying English at 29, and began to work as a freelance simultaneous interpreter, translator and environmental affairs journalist. In addition to interpreting at international conferences, lectures and seminars on environmental issues, translating business documents and publishing a number of translated works, Ms. Edahiro is actively involved in publishing and lecturing on the environment. Her publications include "You Can Do Anything If You Get Up at 2:00am Every Morning", "Eco Networking" and "What Is the Earth's Sweater?". Her published translations include "The Eco Economic Revolution" (Lester. R. Brown) and "State of the World" (Worldwatch Institute).

Hiroyuki Tada

Specialized in Sociology and International Relations.
Businessperson
Employed at an electronics manufacturing company, Hiroyuki Tada was involved in setting up new business operations, planning, sales and marketing. Since moving to the environmental division, he has been in charge of environmental and strategic planning, as well as environmental communication, reporting and accounting.
