ANA Intercontinental Hotel Tokyo reached an agreement on January 18, 2007, to develop "the Forest of ANA Hotel Tokyo" with Yamanashi District Forest Office in the Forest Agency of Japan. As part of this agreement, ANA will start planting trees in April 2007 with technical cooperation from the Organization for Industrial, Spiritual and Cultural Advancement (OISCA)-International, in an area of "Tsutsujigasaki no mori," a national forest managed by the Forest Office.

Since the hotel introduced the reuse of sheets and towels for guests who stay two or more nights in April 2006, there have been 5,963 cooperative responses; 16 percent on average for all clientele over the nine-month period ending in December 2006. This led to cost reductions, including the reduced use of laundry detergent and water, and decreased environmental water pollution. The savings are expected to reach approximately three million yen (about U.S.$25,210) annually and will be used for tree planting.

After experiencing a fire in April 2005, the designated area is now expected to take the first steps toward recovery and renovation as a place with public benefits, including a conservatory of water resources and an oasis where people can relax and feel closer to nature, while absorbing carbon dioxide to help curb global warming.
